What Are the Best Shopify POS Apps for Each Store Job?
Best Shopify POS apps for retail stores, sorted by store job. See what Shopify POS Pro already covers before you pay for an app for stock, loyalty or staff.

You're about to pay for a Shopify POS app to fix a gap you may already have paid for. The best Shopify POS apps for your stores start with a question most lists skip: which Shopify POS are you running?
Some gaps on your shortlist are app gaps. Others are plan gaps, and paying an app to patch a plan feature is the long way around (with a longer invoice).
The short answer: the best apps cover a store job your plan doesn't (here, a Shopify POS app is any app that works with Shopify POS). We sort them by job, show what Shopify includes first and name apps only from their own listings, read in October 2026. Start with the test.
Key takeaways
- A Shopify POS app is any app that works with Shopify POS to cover a store job the platform doesn't.
- Check Shopify's POS Pro table first: pickup, ship to home, staff permissions and store analytics are Pro features per location, not apps.
- Stocky ended on August 31, 2026, so stock across stores now runs on Shopify's built-in transfers and purchase orders, plus an app where you need more.
- Loyalty programs, appointments, outreach and commissions are the jobs the plan table leaves open, so an app is the likely answer.
What are the best Shopify POS apps?
The best Shopify POS apps are the ones that cover a job your plan doesn't, work with Shopify POS at every location and get used on the floor. Shopify's Works with Shopify POS collection lists 89 apps (checked October 7, 2026), so you need a filter. Use three questions:
- Is it already a plan feature? Check Shopify's POS Pro table before you pay for an app.
- Does it work with Shopify POS and your locations? The listing should say so.
- Will an associate use it mid-conversation? If it takes three taps and a login, it will struggle on a busy Tuesday.
On question two, read the listing's "Works with" line first. A listing that names only the Shopify admin may never reach the register, so trial it in one store.
That's the filter. Our five-app pairing list for Shopify POS covers CRM, reporting, promotions, loyalty and email, so this guide goes after the jobs that list skips. Here are the apps named below, by job, as their own pages describe them:
Shopify POS apps by store job
Store job |
App |
What its page says |
Works with Shopify POS? |
|---|---|---|---|
Inventory | Stockroom | Purchase orders; one order to several locations; Stocky migration | Listed |
Inventory | Stockie | Forecasting; min and max levels; multi-location | Doesn't list POS (admin only) |
Appointments | Sesami | Books online and on POS; styling sessions | Listed |
Appointments | Easy Appointment Booking App | Syncs to orders, customers and POS | Listed |
Staff | Easyteam POS Time Clock In | Time clock, schedules, commissions | Listed |
Clienteling | Endear | CRM, appointments, email, SMS and WhatsApp outreach | Listed |
First, the plan boundary.
What does Shopify POS already include?
Shopify POS includes in-person selling features on every paid plan, and POS Pro adds more at each location where you turn it on. Shopify's pages name the included tier two ways: the Shopify POS app listing calls it POS Lite, and the help center calls it in-person selling features.
POS Pro costs $89 per location per month on Shopify's POS pricing page, as read on October 7, 2026, and Shopify's yearly POS Pro offer lists $67 per location on a 12-month term. The help center adds that the first 20 POS Pro locations are included on every Shopify Plus plan. Here is where each store job lands:
Shopify POS plan coverage by job
Store job |
On every paid plan |
POS Pro, per location |
Where an app comes in |
|---|---|---|---|
Inventory | Multi-location inventory, orders and customers; changing quantities | Tracking and adjusting inventory; receiving stock transfers | Reorders, forecasting, purchase order extras |
Customer data | Customer profiles; Customer View app | Rich profiles, lifetime value reporting, loyalty insights and preference tracking (pricing page) | Loyalty programs, outreach queues, clienteling |
Staff | Staff PINs | Staff permissions; unlimited POS-only staff; add staff to a sale | Time clocks, schedules, commissions |
Pickup and shipping | Not included | Pickup in store; ship to home; ship and carry out; local delivery | Rarely needed |
Reporting | Shopify admin analytics; no POS daily sales reports | Daily sales reports; in-app retail store analytics | Custom multi-store reports |
Loyalty and booking | Gift cards, but no points or booking | Loyalty insights, not a points program | Points, tiers, appointments |
If the job sits in the third column, price POS Pro for that location before you shop for an app. If it sits in the fourth, keep reading.
Our view: price the plan first, because an app that duplicates POS Pro is a second invoice for the same job.

Which apps handle inventory across locations?
Shopify's built-in inventory tools now cover Stocky's core workflows, and an app can fill the gaps Shopify itself lists. Stocky is no longer available as of August 31, 2026 (the app itself is gone), according to Shopify's migration page, and you now move stock with transfers, track purchase orders and count stock in the Shopify admin, with receiving transfers in POS at POS Pro locations. If your Boston store is out of the camel coat and Providence has six, that's a transfer.
Shopify adds low-stock alerts through Shopify Flow and says its Sidekick assistant can draft a purchase order or transfer for you. It also names what the built-in route doesn't do: you can't email a purchase order from the admin (you download a PDF), past purchase orders and suppliers don't migrate, and there's no dedicated report on spend by supplier.
Two apps list inventory features on their own pages. Stockroom's listing shows Shopify POS under "Works with" and says it emails purchase orders as PDFs, sends one to several locations and offers a Stocky migration (confirm the import path works now that Stocky's APIs have stopped). Stockie's listing names forecasting, min and max levels and multi-location inventory, but names the Shopify admin, not POS, so test whether your register sees what it changes.
Shopify also says you keep read-only access to export Stocky data for at least 90 days after August 31, so pull your reports now.
Trial any inventory app on the boring stuff: receive a partial shipment, move stock between two stores and check that the register sees the result.
A purchase order you can't receive at the back door is an elaborate wish. Stock sorted, on to the part your customers notice.
Which apps cover loyalty and customer data?
Shopify POS has no built-in loyalty tools, so points and tiers need an app, per Shopify's POS loyalty guide. Our retention app comparison covers loyalty apps in detail, so we won't repeat it here.
Customer data is a different job. Shopify's CRM POS guide says native POS profiles hold contact details, purchase history, preferences and custom fields such as a birthday or shoe size. It lists the signs you've outgrown them: marketing automation gets complex, sales needs pipelines, or your staff needs more sophisticated clienteling tools.
Endear is one option for that last sign. Its Shopify page says it syncs customers, orders and products in real time, and lets associates message by email, SMS or WhatsApp from one platform.
Shopify's guide lists Endear as a best fit for multistore or high-touch brands where clienteling is a growth strategy, and Endear's Shopify App Store listing shows it works with Shopify POS. A customer record only pays off when someone acts on it, so appointments come next.
Which apps cover appointments and clienteling?
Appointments need a booking app that works with Shopify POS, and clienteling needs a customer record your associates can act on. On the booking side, Sesami's listing says it books "online and on POS" and names styling sessions, and the Easy Appointment Booking App says it syncs to orders, customers and POS with multi-location scheduling.
Endear takes a different route: Endear Appointments is built inside its CRM, and its page description says it's included in every Endear plan. The page also says you can track appointments, conversion rates and associate performance across stores in one dashboard.
A booking app fills a calendar. Deciding who to invite is the clienteling half. Endear's AI Opportunity Engine ranks a daily queue of outreach opportunities and drafts messages your associates can review and send in seconds, or automate entirely, per its AI page.
Whichever route you take, book an appointment for a real customer, then check their record at the register. If the associate can't see it, the booking lives in a different tool than the sale. Next, the people behind the register.

Which apps track staff and commissions?
POS Pro covers staff access, and an app covers time clocks and commissions. Shopify's help center table lists staff permissions, unlimited POS-only staff and adding staff to a sale as POS Pro features. It doesn't list commission calculation or time clocks.
Easyteam POS Time Clock In fills that gap on its listing, with a time clock, schedules, commissions and payroll connections, and it says it works with Shopify POS.
Payroll isn't the same question as attribution. Endear's analytics page says you can compare performance by salesperson, location or channel, which tells you whose outreach drove a sale, not what you owe them. Our guide to tracking salespeople on Shopify shows where each tool fits.
Now for the jobs you may not need an app for at all.
Do reporting and pickup need an app?
Usually not, because pickup, shipping and the POS reports are POS Pro features. Shopify's help center lists pickup in store, ship to home, ship and carry out and local delivery fulfillment as Pro only, along with daily sales reports and in-app retail store analytics.
An app earns its place when you need custom reports across stores, and the pairing list we mentioned earlier names one. One thing changes the whole picture, though: scale.
What changes with many locations?
Two things change with many locations: what Shopify charges per location, and how much control your apps give you. Shopify's help center says that with more than 20 POS Pro locations and Shopify Payments as your primary payment provider, the POS Pro cost is waived for your first 200 retail locations. Its pricing page says the back office supports 1,000+ locations, and its CRM guide points large retailers with ERP needs to Shopify's Global ERP Program.
For the app layer, ask for roles by store, locked templates and one admin view across brands. Endear's enterprise page lists an org-level admin console, multi-brand architecture, role-based permissions and templates locked by brand. It says enterprise typically means 40+ stores, multiple regions or a multi-brand portfolio.
Pilot any new app in a few stores first, then roll out by region.
